You mean the hosting? Or the code behind it? Hosting is just a basic cpanel hosting, but is probably just a linux box. I'm sure it can run other stuff. There is a mysql database we can use, ftp etc.

I basically created the new site, but it was a case of, the old site went down and we just needed to get *something* up lol. I literally did a php tutorial at 11pm before sleep and wrote most of the code for the new site by the next day. But I am not a web developer. I don't have the skills to make something fancy. Well maybe given enough time ..

Basic site doesn't even have a database, I wrote the php code to dynamically generate the content based upon the folder contents. So the new section for example, the php code reads the new music directory, lists the files, sorts them by date, extracts the jpegs from the actual mp3 files themselves then it generates a webpage dynamically.

But as much as I wrote the code, honk isn't really my project, it's the communities project. If people want to write new code / build features or replace the site entirely then I'm totally open to that.

My only really strong opinion is that, honk should really be mostly for honkfm only music, with maybe a few exceptions for smaller artists, or stuff that isn't available elsewhere. If your stuff is on youtube and spotify it doesn't really be honk. There are literally billions of songs out there, by opening up to 3rd party stuff or totally open upload portal we could potentially drown the site in content.
